Negli ultimi giorni si sono registrati lanci di dispositivi BlackBerry in alcuni stati Africani, ulteriore segno che il divario tecnologico va assottigliandosi.Il primo lancio si registra il giorno 25 Febbraio, col lancio in Botswana del servizio BlackBerry da parte di EMS, Orange e RIM, dispositivi abbinati al lancio BlackBerry 8700g e 8100 Pearl:
